The classic way in — on foot from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. It's a proper walk, about 1.9 km and half an hour on foot, mostly up one street. Start at the museum's main entrance, river side, where Puppy the flower dog stands guard.

Stand at the main entrance of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, with the river and the titanium curves behind you, facing the city. Find Calle Iparraguirre, the street that climbs away from the museum.

Head straight up Iparraguirre

Walk up Calle Iparraguirre, away from the river. Cross Gran Vía at Plaza Moyúa and keep going through Abando and Indautxu — one long, steady line.

The big avenues give way to the quieter, lower streets of the Errekalde district. Bear up into the Irala quarter and onto Zuberoa Etorbidea.

Train

From Ametzola (Cercanías · Euskotren)

The quickest hop. From Ametzola station it's a flat 10–12 minute walk — through Ametzola park and up Ugalde Kalea into Irala, about 850 m to our door.

Metro

From Indautxu or Moyúa (L1 · L2)

The metro gets you most of the way. From Indautxu it's roughly a 12–15 minute walk up through Autonomía into Irala; from Moyúa, just follow Calle Iparraguirre as in the walk above. We're on Zuberoa Etorbidea 46.

By car

Parking in Irala

Come in off the N-634 and Autonomía. Street parking in the quiet Irala blocks is far easier than downtown, and the Ametzola car park is a few minutes away on foot.
